So this blog entry it going to be a little more personal today then work related. But I wanted to share with you all a photo of my aunt. One of my mom's younger sisters who we recently lost to Cancer. My aunt was given 6 months or less when she was diagnosed with cancer! when our family found out we were all very devastated. We never thought that something like this can happen to us or anyone close to us but that just shows that cancer does not matter who we are or whom we are related too.
My gorgeous aunt lived a whole 2yrs after being diagnosed! 2 yrs! we were so happy that she lived longer than what she was told. She was a fighter with a big heart. Loosing someone for the 1st time in our family was really hard on everyone specially my cousins they lost a mom my uncle lost a wife my family lost a aunt, sister and my Grandma lost her daughter. Loosing someone does not get any easier we have to take it day by day, but even those day by day still can be very hard. Ive seen the effect it has taken my family my mom and my poor grandma.
This is my mom to the left and my Gorgeous Aunt! you can't even tell she was already fighting this horrible illness. She lived everyday to her fullest, she loved to love she loved to be happy she loved to help others and have a good time. Oh and she loved to shop too.
I tried not to cry to be strong for my mom but when we went to see my aunt a week before she passed and seeing her at her weakest broke me and then seeing my mom break was the worst as well. I can't stand seeing my mom cry or seeing her hurt. Seeing her hurt for her little sister was so hard but I still had to try and stay strong for her and my aunt. I will never take the last moments I had with her for granted! I will always remember her as the way she was before she got cancer. I will always remember her as a true fighter.
I will cherish all the memories I had with her growing up! when she would chase my little brother to bite his cheeks because he had big chunky cheeks when she cut my boys hair at her kids beauty salon. The way every time she would cook food it would ALWAYS be spicy! and she would call me a chicken because it would be too spicy for me.
that is my older son getting his first haircut by my aunt. Oh and trust me she bit his little chunky cheeks too. She said "your tio (uncle) doesn't have big cheeks anymore but you do."
My youngest getting his 2nd hair cut by aunt. They loved going to her because she had the fun kids salon.
"What matters most is how you walked through the fire."
Remember to always say "I love you" to those who you care for. Don't let those who you love and care for go. Don't loose your self and stay close to those who will always be there for you and have been there for you through thick and thin. Thank you for letting me write a little about my family today and share with you all a little about my Tia Lupita (aunt)
"I think the hardest part about loosing someone, isn't having to say goodbye, but rather learning to live without them. Always trying to fill the void, the emptiness that's left inside your heart when they go."
Well just a year ago I was settling in to a whole new life in Minnesota and now I am back in California! there is a lot to go in to detail but I will just let you all know that I am back. I am booking sessions, and trying to get my life together with 2 little guys always by my side. My 5yr old started Kinder! and that was an emotional day, I did not think it would be since I was used to him going to Pre School; nope I cried again. lol. My husband was bummed that he missed out on his first day of school but I did take photos and video so he would still feel like if he were there with him.
I am in disbelief on how excited my clients in California were to hear that I was moving back! and I just felt so honored that they waited for me to get their photos taken by me. You all don't know how much this means to me.
wanted to share with you all how happy he was on his 1st day of school.
Love this painting of my home state name! NOT MY PHOTO! I wish I knew who took it to give them credit.
So last month one of my friends in CA saw a post on a Facebook page we are both part of for photographers. Someone was looking for a wedding photographer for a backyard wedding in Minneapolis! so right away she put my name down and tagged me on the post! I responded with my info and my information was passed on to the Bride.
A few hours later I got a message from the Bride with the details and wanting to know price for the few hours. To be honest I don't take on big weddings because it just seems stressful but I know one day Ill jump on it and do it! so for right now I only take on small intimate weddings. Anyhow back to my story..lol. she loved my work and my price and told me the wedding was on June 29th! I had to figure out a babysitter for my boys since my husband was away for military training in Canada. But the photography Gods worked my way and the husband came home early to watch the boys! yay!
Well let me start off with saying it was a HOT and very HUMID day in Minnesota!!! and OMG it was crazy with the weather. I felt bad for the groom in his suit and her in her gown if I was hot they had to be super hot! Well anyhow let me tell you this set up in the backyard was so perfect and personal and beautiful the arch was exactly what any bride would want with the sunset hitting the back it gave it perfect lighting.
What did I tell ya! so pretty and the colors were just as perfect as well.
I felt so honored to be able to capture this special day for this young couple! The bride did have one specific request to please get a shot of them kissing as the guys threw flower pedals at them! so that was the one thing I had to make sure to get and man did I make sure to get it! I am so in love with this shot! and she was so excited when she saw the preview. You can not even tell they were so hot.
Here are a few more shots of them and their little baby as well. Hope you all enjoy these and the blog! thank you for being so patient with me while I have been slacking on my website I promise to be on here more.
I wish this couple a life time full of happiness and full of love! Congratulations to the both you and your little angel.
Here is to many more kisses!
Hey loves! I am sorry I have been MIA life has been a little hectic lately. Dealing with my oldest last days of schools, then his Pre-K4 graduation, birthday party planning and hosting it. Also spent time with the husband before he left for a training. trying to keep the kids busy so they don't miss him so much. You know typical busy days with little ones. Then on top of that editing sessions.
Thank you to all those who have sent inquiries for sessions I can't wait to work with some of you and get to know you.
Also I wanted to share this photo of both my boys from their birthday party
They had a fun day. hope all these little ones bring you all a smile today and you all have a great week.
So this blog I am starting off with this image because it is so Gorgeous the bond between mom and her daughter is just beautiful!
So I had this image in my head of doing a boho chic mommy and me session with setting up my tepee with flowers, pillows and my faux fur blanket. Then came the challenge of who do I ask to model for me? I don't know any moms with little ones that well in Minnesota. Bam like that I thought of Bethany and her beautiful baby girl. See I met Bethany for birth photos and she hired me and I got to be there the day she gave birth to her little miracle to her little rainbow baby, so I got to take those beautiful images for them.
well anyhow I messaged her and she said "yes" right away but we wanted to do this when it is not cold or snowing because we didn't want the baby to get sick. So we decided to take them in March! and let me tell you it was a good day for us it was nice and warm and sunny no rain or snow! We did them at a friends studio who is also a photographer in Elko, MN and it is an old building and it was so perfect for it just perfect. www.facebook.com/The-Legacy-Building-548469608967925/ seriously check it out if you are in the area ever or need to get photos done give her a call or message her.
Bethany reached out to a MUA (make up artist) and a hair dresser and they work together and agreed to collaborate for the session. When she told me that I was even more excited! thank you girls for helping us with this session. If you guys ever need your make up and hair done and are in the Dakota county in Minnesota aka Burnsville, MN get in touch with them you will love getting glammed up by them.
This session is just what I had planned in my head what I expected it to look like. I am so proud of this session and so thankful for all the feedback from people it has been so positive. This is the first image I posted from this session as a preview and I got way more feed back way more likes and reaches then I expected!
Seriously how gorgeous is this?! the lighting the walls, the colors, my gorgeous mama and baby girl. Trust me this will be entered in next years Shoot and Share contest. Actually there are a few more from this session I will enter but for sure this one. I actually plan to print this one out and have it in my office.
Can't wait to be able to work with them again! I adore this one as well.
I hope you all can see why I love this session so much. You can't even tell that mom was sick during this session.
Thank you everyone who was able to help with this vision of mind, if it were not for you all this wouldn't have been possible.
I am so over the moon! so I am in the Wandering Weddings facebook page and posted a few photos from a styled wedding I shot (not the one I styled) but that a friend styled. My friend Ashley from www.paisleyphotography29.com Well I got a message from them that they wanted to feature one of my photos on their web site! When I read that message I was like a little kid in a candy store! I was so or should I say still am excited about it.
So I went ahead and emailed them the image at the size they asked for, and all the information they required. Well yesterday I was on their website and saw their "Weekly Spotlight-issue 88" and saw my photo was on there! I swear I had a smile from ear to ear. I felt so honored and it was just what I needed to make my day better! Thank you to the amazing people at Wandering Weddings for the opportunity to be featured/published on your website it means the world to me.
this is what the photo looks like on their web site.
To many this might not seem like a big deal, but this is to us photographers we work so hard at what we do and invest so much time. So to be published or featured is such a big High Five for us.
Here is the Original photo so you all can look at it better.
Thank you again Wandering weddings for this opportunity. You made this photographers day, week and month. Also thank you to all of you all of my clients all of my family and friends for always supporting me.
First off let me start off that I re-did my whole website so that is why I am just blogging this session a yr later even though it was already blogged before. So with that said lets get started with this gorgeous styled wedding.
About a year ago in March of 2018 I wanted to go out of my comfort zone. From not just being behind the camera but being able to style a session with a vision in my head and it come to life. It sounds easy right? yeah I thought so too but it is way harder. Once I started to get things together, think of colors, florist who would like to collaborate in the session, dress, couple, table decor, etc.. the list goes on. I started to stress my self out and wanted to just say "forget it" but i decided nope I am not going to take the easy way out. I went through with it, Let me tell you I am so happy I did. It opened a door for me to want to do more styled sessions to be able to keep my creative mind busy and not slow down.
First I needed to come up with a couple. I thought of Ashley a fellow photographer I had met and who modeled for me in another session. I asked her if she and her husband would model for me. I was so happy she said yes and she wore her own wedding gown which let me tell you it is so gorgeous. Her husband Andy was excited to wear his new suit, so I was excited he was good to go with the photoshoot.
Second step to find a Florist being able to do it, and saying yes to a collaboration session. I asked a few local florist and a few said no, or that they would not be available the date I wanted to do the session. Finally one florist told me of another one who would most likely say yes because she likes to do styled sessions. So at this point this was my last chance before I tried to make the floral bouquet my self. I sent her a email and she said yes!!!! I was so excited I told her what I had in mind and color tones as well and some ideas. Let me tell you she went above and beyond with her floral bouquet it was so beautiful. If you are in the CA desert and need floral work please don't hesitate to look up Niche Hitch.
Told you her work is beyond amazing! When I saw the floral arrangement I couldn't believe this whole session was coming to life that I was styling this with amazing people.
I did not look for a hairstylist or a makeup artist because my gorgeous model Ashley actually went to school for it so she did her own hair and make up. I did mention she is a photographer as well right.! talk about multi talented. If you get a chance please check out her work. I have added her website for you all.
So let me share with you all a few photos from the setting. Yes this session was shot on a camping ground part of Joshua Tree located in Yucca Valley, CA.
the chairs are actually part of my dinning room table. I struggled for the longest time trying to find the perfect chairs. I swear I went to every single antique stores in town, second hand stores, Marshalls. But I just couldn't find what I wanted, well of course leave it to my wonderful husband to suggest our chairs! I swear I felt so dumb because I did not think of using them and they are so perfect for the setting! thank you husband.
I had my amazing and fellow photographer friend Tasha from Tasha Tomecko Photography come along for the session so she can have some fun taking photos and use for her portfolio as well. This session was a sunrise session but the weather decided to be cloudy and cold for us this day I was so sad, but hey the photos turned out pretty good with the over casted weather.
This is honestly my favorite photo from this styled session!
this one of her is my favorite of all! the colors the dress the background is just so perfect! and of course she is beautiful.
Seriously how perfect are they!
We had him hold her flowers to get a few shots of her with out the flowers and I got this one of him. Just love how happy he looks how happy he looks seeing his wife the love in his eyes and smile!
I am ending this blog with this photo! why because it is so perfect. Thank you again Ashley and Andy for being amazing models for being so fun for a great friendship this has turned out to be. Thank you Tasha for joining as well Love you all and miss you!
Well what is Shoot and Share? easiest way to answer that question is that it is a HUGE photography contest that happens once a year starting in January! Photographers from all over the world enter their best work from the following year and people from all over vote for the best images. In the month of January you have a chance to enter your best 50 images once they are entered the team from Shoot and Share go through all images entered by everyone to make sure they qualify and are in the correct category. What I mean by the Shoot and Share team I mean actual people actual photographers not a computer.
In the month if February voting starts and I swear to you it is so addicting! you seriously are voting all day when you get a chance to do so. So many of my clients this year asked if they can help vote and of course they can. So I would give them the link and would warn them it gets addicting. They would message me later saying they voted for an hour and did not even realize it or that they voted for over 3 hours. ha ha I warned them. Voting ends at the end of February and then everything gets broken down to who ended in what in other words how far did your photos go in the competition. The finalist and the winner get some amazing prizes!
This is my 2nd year entering and it was the same feeling as the first one exciting and in awww of others work.
This year I went way farther then I did last year. I got so many votes and hearts compared to last year. Not going to lie I did not expect to get as far as I did. I just want to say thank you to all of you who voted for my images when you saw them. I am beyond grateful for all the support from my clients, friends, and family.
Here is a little video of some fo the images that were entered this year. (How cool is that they make you a video)
Here are my awards from last year:
My awards for this years 2019 contest:
So to all of you who ever feel like doubting your self don't! I know it is easier said then done. Trust me I have been there and when I least expect it I have to snap my self out of it, and this contest this year helped me big time with not giving up on my passion!
So to Shoot and Share thank you for this moral booster and thank you to all of you for working so hard on this contest and being so patient with all the questions you get on the daily.
What can I say about this little trio! they have been my clients for a while now it all started off when Jael messaged me about doing wedding portraits for her and her husband. They did not have the big wedding, so she wanted to do wedding photos of her in her wedding dress and him in his dress Blues. you see he happens to be a United States Marine. They were actually one of my first clients in the California Desert when my husband was stationed there so I was super excited she gave me the opportunity to take their photos. Her mom was in town visiting them so that helped big time with their baby at the time in between photos of them and a few of them with the baby.
I had the opportunity to take many more photos for them and with each session it was always fun trying to get their daughter to smile for me. But hey point for me I won I got some of her smiling at me. You would think after so long she would say cheese for me but she made me work and I accepted her challenge. ha ha
I think out of all their sessions and even me having the honor to photograph his Military homecoming for them, my favorite session with them was the last one I had before they moved back to Washignton State. See he got out of the Marine Corps but hey don't get it wrong even though he is no longer serving he will always hold that title of a United States Marine.
Told you guys I got smiles!
This session was so fun it looks sunny but it was cold and the wind did not help so their little one was not having it after a bit and she got mad at us . But its ok we got some amazing photos of her parents being silly and loving at the same time.
She did give me a chance to get a few of her though with her parents so thank you Jaidee.
Here are a few of her parents. I love that they did not say no to my ideas and had fun with all our sessions.
Thank you to you two for letting me capture special moments for you thank you for the friendship and thank you to your mom as well.
Also before ending this I would like to tell them Congratulations to their new bundle of Joy! Daddy got him self a little boy.
Well I can't seem to fall asleep right now and it seems like my little family decided to have a slumber party downstairs and sleep. So you know what that means right?! The whole bed to my self! yay!
Well today is my little brothers Birthday he turned 35! I can't believe he is so old already..lol.. but look how handsome he is.
As you can tell he is in the United States Air Force. He joined right after High School and so far is still planning to retire out of the military. I am beyond proud of him for all that he has accomplished in his career for all that he still plans to accomplish and for following his dream and not letting anyone stand in his way.
Who would have thought the little annoying brother who played GI Joes would eventually end up enlisting in real life.
I have not see my brother physically in 5yrs! last time he came home we were still living in San Clemente, CA. He finally came home and is spending his birthday with my mom today, and I am so sad I can't be there because we are now in Minnesota. I know ill see him soon and I can't wait (though I know will just pick on one another) because hey that is what siblings do right?. (btw he is stationed in Japan)
So to my little big brother I wish you the happiest of days the happiest of Birthday's today! I wish you many many more birthdays and many years of happiness with Yoko and in life and of course trucks load of success!
Feliz Cumpleaños Cachetes
I love you too much un chingo!
